BAND
ONL was formed more than a year ago, after Stig Olson, Paul Nieman and Steve Lodder crossed professional paths once too often to ignore. The ONL lineup currently includes Saxophones (Stig Olson), Trombones (Paul Nieman), Keyboards (Steve Lodder), Drums (Simon Pearson) and Bass (Andy Hamill).
ONL’s music can be described as a form of chamber-jazz, navigating a full dynamic range from intimate duo and trio forms all the way through to sumptuous full-on 5-piece sounds - the compositions are concise, allowing individual players to weave written and improvised paths through the minimal, notated structures, accompanied occasionally by electronic soundscapes and motifs - the fulcrum of the ONL composition process, and the essence of the band’s live preformance, is that ‘less is more’.
